SASKIA JOSS – CHILD THERAPIST

Welcome

I am a child therapist and author from London. I specialise in supporting children with anxiety along with their parents and carers at my practice, the Mill Hill Therapy Hub. My first book, “Help! My Child’s Anxiety is Giving Me Anxiety” was published by Headline in April 2025 as a hardback and audio book, followed by the paperback in April 2026. My podcast, “Help! My Child’s Anxious” with co-host Vanessa Feltz, was launched in June 2025 to shine a light on child anxiety and offer practical ways to manage it.

My approach

I believe that the relationship between the therapist and the client is the most important aspect of therapy. In my case, that applies to my child clients and their families.

I use talking, art materials (especially clay, slime and paint) and play to get to know my clients and help them find what they think they need and support their family as a whole.

I use a humanistic approach which takes its cues from the client whatever their age or reasons for coming. I also encourage parental participation in sessions where appropriate and always enjoy working with pro-active and committed parents.

I hope that our positive relationship, shared experience and my aim to help shed light for the client through my therapeutic skills will help your child considerably in the long run. Please find next steps here and you can contact me here.

Mill Hill Therapy Hub

I run the Mill Hill Therapy Hub in north-west London, which pairs therapists and clients and provides six rooms (four in Mill Hill, one in Hendon and one in Kingston) for their work together to take place.

The Mill Hill Therapy Hub is the communal working place for over 50 adult practitioners and 30 child therapists and psychologists. Use our “Find a practitioner” tool to see who has suitable specialist areas and we can match you up straight away with a qualified and highly skilled practitioner with immediate availability to meet your or a family member’s needs.

Testimonials

Saskia is a truly wonderful, personable and intuitive child therapist. I have had the pleasure of working very closely with her for many years now and I can’t recommend her highly enough. Saskia always goes the extra mile, she is extremely knowledgeable, warm and approachable. She radiates feel-good energy and creates an incredibly calm and engaging atmosphere. Children can have boundless fun whilst safely exploring different feelings and life events, to help them navigate situations, overcome hurdles and build confidence and resilience. She is wonderful. I highly recommend her to everyone.

I am so grateful to Saskia for helping my child when they felt anxious and sad. Saskia provided a safe and enjoyable environment for my child to open up about their fears and concerns and she helped them to navigate through them. After a few sessions my child was noticeably happier, relaxed and things were much calmer at home. Thank you Saskia!

Parent of a 13-year-old child

I have been very fortunate to work with Saskia and have seen her passion and dedication extend to all the children and families she works with.

She brings a high level of knowledge and experience to her work and her clients feel safe, seen and secure with her.

Talya Ressel – psychotherapist

I contacted Saskia and we arranged a parenting call to discuss everything. She listened, understood, and gave ideas and suggestions of how she can help us and work together. This time it felt different than the other times we had engaged with a therapist.

Saskia’s warm approach of offering the parents advice on ‘how to’ or ‘how not to’ has had a more positive effect on our child than I could have imagined in such a short space of time. We hope to continue working with Saskia moving forward and I have absolutely no hesitation, and am delighted to recommend her to family and friends.

Saskia is truly a rare find, and my husband and I are grateful for her ongoing support and advice to us.

Parents of a 6-year-old boy

After three sessions with you, the change in her has been absolutely unbelievable. We honestly can’t thank you enough for what you have done, and for the information, guidance and tools you have given us to continue helping her at home.
She is now eating completely normally again, which at one point felt impossible. She is coping so much better with conflict and worries at school, she is sleeping better, and, perhaps most amazingly of all, she recently chose, completely off her own back, to go back to sleeping in her own bed after almost a year of sleeping with one of us. We couldn’t believe it.
The biggest thing, though, is how much happier she seems in herself. She recognises it too. One day she simply said, “I feel so happy,” and as her parents, there really are no words to describe how wonderful it was to hear that. Our family have all noticed the positive change in her too.
Thank you again for your kindness, understanding and support. The positive difference you have made to our whole family means more to us than we can say.
