ABOUT ME
Hi, I’m Saskia.
I began to explore therapy after working for five years as a primary school teacher. I had been interested in becoming a therapist and so I began training to work as a humanistic counsellor for adults.
At the same time, I began to work in an inner-city school and in my first class there were children experiencing some of the most difficult, scary and sad home lives I had ever heard about.
Although I could give them love, positivity and fun at school, I always felt split; all 30 pupils needed my time and attention, but obviously others needed it more to counteract what they were living through.
I realised I would never be able to help them all in the way I felt I wanted to if I carried on as a class teacher. So, when I completed my certificate in integrative humanistic counselling, I decided to train further in working with children.
I went to study at the Institute for Arts and Therapy in Education in Islington and earned my diploma in integrative arts counselling for children.
I have had the pleasure of working with amazing families, children and adolescents going through very hard times and all I’ve ever wanted was to be an additional help to them. It is truly inspiring.
