About me

Hi, my name is Saskia Joss

I am a child therapist specialising in anxiety and an author from London. I am a fully qualified teacher, early years educator and parenting expert with a long-standing passion for supporting children’s mental health.

I qualified to become a therapist at the CPPD and at the Institute for Arts in Therapy Education. I have been qualified and working in various local schools and in private practice since 2019.

More about me

iAfter the COVID-19 pandemic, it was clear that the level of anxiety in society and in our children was unprecedented. I trained and learned everything I could about anxiety and began to mainly see children who were anxious. At the same time, I expanded my work into supporting parents on the phone and lecturing online and at schools to help parents manage their children’s anxieties, anger, fear and grief and help them build resilience and structures to support their relationships and mental health at home and at school.

In 2024, I began writing a book to share my expertise with parents trying to help their families with anxiety. Published by Headline Publishing in April 2025, “Help! My Child’s Anxiety is Giving Me Anxiety” is designed to help parents manage their own anxiety and support children through any anxious-making events that may occur. From separation anxiety, social anxiety, divorce, death, food anxiety, gender anxiety and body anxiety, the book gives parents practical advice to help children, adolescents and young adults from age two up to 25.

How I work

I use art materials, games, puppets, toys and books to set up a positive and busy environment to help children engage, relax and open up. I invest immediately in making a real relationship and making children feel special and understood. While we make things or play I will help a child identify what has been difficult, worrying or upsetting them.

Then I work to make practical changes and help build emotional understanding and resilience. Most child therapy is short term and I believe children should choose to come because it’s enjoyable and useful.
