Using Books to talk to children about diversity and Racism

2020 has highlighted a huge worldwide issue of systemic racism and injustice. Many parents have been trying to find ways to make their homes more inclusive and diverse. One way that I find particularly effective way to normalise difference and increase conversation on the topic of race is through books.

For Black History Month 2020 I have created a list of books I think would add to any home and facilitate the opportunities to chat with your children about the difficult topics.

Please find them some of my favourites below and here is a link to an Amazon Wish List that contains all of the excellent books that I have seen inspire children to be prouder of their differences and more sensitive to others.
